How can I help with the NIST AI RMF?
Free AI guidance for NIST AI RMF adoption.
- Set up the Govern function
- Map and measure an AI system
- Build AI RMF profiles
About the NIST AI RMF assistant
Seeded with NIST AI Risk Management Framework concepts (AI RMF 1.0, NIST AI 100-1): the four Core functions, with Govern as the cross-cutting function and Map, Measure, and Manage, which can be applied to a specific AI system and lifecycle stage, the categories and subcategories beneath them, the seven characteristics of trustworthy AI, AI actors across the AI lifecycle, use-case, current, target, and cross-sectoral profiles, the companion Playbook, and the Generative AI Profile (NIST AI 600-1).
- Set up the Govern function: AI risk policies, roles and accountability, risk tolerance, and oversight of third-party AI, so it can carry the work on each AI system.
- Work through one AI system with the Map, Measure, and Manage functions: set its context, identify and measure its risks against the trustworthy AI characteristics, and plan how to treat, monitor, and respond to them.
- Build current and target profiles from the categories and subcategories, apply the Generative AI Profile where it fits, and see how AI RMF outcomes line up with ISO 42001 and the EU AI Act.
It gives guidance to speed up your work. The AI RMF is voluntary guidance, not a certifiable standard, and NIST does not offer certification against it, so this is not a certification service or legal advice. NIST has said AI RMF 1.0 is being revised, so check the current version on the NIST website.
