How can I help with ISO 9001?

Seeded with ISO 9001 quality management concepts: the quality management system (QMS) and the seven quality management principles, the process approach and risk-based thinking, the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle, and the way the standard is organised, from understanding the organisation and its interested parties, through leadership and the quality policy, planning around risks and objectives, the resources and support the system needs, and how work is carried out and controlled, to evaluating performance and improving the system over time. It focuses on the concepts that carry across the current and forthcoming editions of the standard rather than any single dated version.

• Understand your organisation's context and interested parties, define the scope and boundaries of your QMS, and identify the processes it needs and how they interact, so the system reflects how your organisation actually delivers its products and services.
• Work with the process approach and risk-based thinking: run the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle across your processes, connect leadership and the quality policy to measurable quality objectives, and plan operations and controls, including how you manage external providers, rather than only producing documents.
• Support your preparation for certification: get ready to run internal audits and management reviews, monitor customers' perceptions and evaluate how the QMS performs, respond to nonconformities and take corrective action where needed, and demonstrate continual improvement, so you are better prepared for a certification body's stage 1 and stage 2 audits and its ongoing surveillance.
